![]() ![]() …while I love those games and don’t fault them for their choices, there are consequences to those decisions, both in gameplay and aesthetics.Īge of Empires 1and 2both employed a graphical style known as Isometric or Orthographic projection, which is where the game world is rotated at a couple of angles in order to simulate the illusion of 3D. ![]() Dawn of War 1 is the most similar, but it strips out a lot of the elements of RTS that AoE exemplify: base building, resource collection and worker / economy management, to name a few. I grew up on Age of Empires 2 and I love just abou t everything about that game. Recent missteps notwithstanding, I love Dawn of War 1 and even 2, although I hesitate to call it an RTS, but they’re both very different from other RTS games I love. A 40k RTS that decidedly isn’t Dawn of War. IronWarden is an RTS set in the Warhammer 40k universe.
